Creating art for stress relief can be in many different ways. It doesn’t matter if you are an artist or an amateur, art is wonderful for stress relief and enhancing wellness. Art helps people express themselves in pictures like drawing a picture of a loved one when you would not be able to express in words. There are different kinds of art and everyone has the freedom to express their own kind. There are no limits to one’s imagination. Medical studies have shown proof that creative engagement (like art) contributes to many aspects of physiological and psychological conditions which is associated with improved health status. Creating art can make a person discover new things about themselves. Creativity and imagination, helps us find our identity and our reservoir of healing.
Going to an art show or an art museum can also help stress relief. This can be done alone, with a friend or a loved one. Take the time to look at the pictures and try to see what the painter/artist was trying to say in that picture. Note, everyone that looks at the same picture will probably have a different view of it. We are all different and have different thoughts.
There are many different types of art. See and explore what type of art interests you and then try it. You can try them all if you like. The beauty of art is there are no boundaries. Try doing some kind of art form and you will forget you even have stress (at least for that period of time).
I like photography especially taking pictures of nature and wild life. Every time I travel I take my SLR Cannon with me and take lots of pictures. One reason, it makes me happy to capture the image at that moment and the second reason, I want to share the memories with my friends and family. After my vacation, I look through all the pictures and pick out my favorite ones. Then, I make a photo book from my collection. This is my hobby and I found it to be a good way for me to relief stress.
Here is a picture I took on our mini family vacation in Port Aransas, Texas. It was too cold to swim and the sun was barely out. We decided to sit on the beach and listen to the sound of the waves. It was very relaxing.
I also like to pick out my interior wall paint in my house and paint the walls myself. This can be a lot of work but when I’m finished it is rewarding and makes me feel great. I’m not suggesting you paint your house, but you can try painting a small area and see how it turns out. If you don’t like it, you can paint over or hire a professional. You never know, you may find your hidden talent in painting.
If you are unable to create your own art, here is an example of inspiration art which helps people in stress relief: Escape Artists Art.
